Crystal Geyser was an accidental result of early mining attempts along the Green River.
It is a rare example of a cold water carbon dioxide driven geyser.
This is the first time in three trips I have seen water flow. We did not get to see it erupt however.
The first written record of Crystal Geyser comes from the report of the Powell Geographic Expedition of 1869, July 13, 1869:
"We stop to examine some interesting rocks, deposited by mineral springs that at one time must have existed here, but which are no longer flowing..."
Like many lifelong photographers I first picked up a camera at a young age and simply knew this was to be my life. I began working for local newspapers at 17 and would go on to earn a degree in photojournalism. I spent a number of years as an award-winning photojournalist and culminated that part of my life with a stint in Israel. My work now is geared toward people and dogs (which I'm beginning to post more of). I have taught photography since 1995 in higher education for Colorado Mountain College and its Isaacson School For New Media. In fact, some of my students are selling their work on FAA!
